Dealing with violence and aggression

The Support Worker, particularly when working alone in a Customer’s home can be a very vulnerable target for abuse and/or aggressive actions from a Customer or a family member. This can often be the case where the Customer is confused or disturbed and/or the family member is distraught and anxious.

Support staff have the right to withdraw from any call if they are subjected to harassment, abuse or aggression from a customer or their relatives or feels personally threatened in any way. Where problems arise a Risk Assessment will be undertaken and measures taken to reduce and control the risk. However in some circumstances we will withdraw our services.
